Pros and Conscons of using charcoal on a canvas

So iI have a commission due this Christmas, it has to be on a 40x3040 x 30 canvas, and the whole drawing has to be in charcoal, so iI want to know if it'd be the same thing as if iI was drawing inon paper. Or should iI change to paper instead of a canvas? whatWhat would work best?
