On Stack Exchange, we believe the core moderators should come from the community, and be elected by the community itself through popular vote. We hold regular elections to determine who these community moderators will be.

Community moderators are accorded the highest level of privilege on our community, and should themselves be exemplars of positive behavior and leaders within the community.

Our general criteria for moderators is as follows:

  • patient and fair
  • leads by example
  • shows respect for their fellow community members in their actions and words
  • open to some light but firm moderation to keep the community on track and resolve (hopefully) uncommon disputes and exceptions

Every election has three phases:

  1. Nomination
  2. Primary
  3. Election

Please participate in the moderator elections by voting, and perhaps even by nominating yourself to be a community moderator!

Funny how you can feel connected to a virtual community without so much as an introduction: I am Joachim, a Finland-based Dutchman having received his MFA in Belgium.
My main interests and competences lie in painting, art history and drawing. One of the mainsprings of my art are video games, hence my activity on Arqade.

As one of the most active members, I believe I can ensure a more effective moderator presence. I think I'm naturally rational, empathetic, and observant.
Although the website's current scope might be a work in progress, my understanding of it is quite extensive.

Much of my time on Arts & Crafts goes into moderator tasks already, like editing existing posts (fixing grammatical errors, rephrasing and retagging where necessary) and improving our platform's backbone through input and feedback on our meta site. I'm fond of doing those things.

Through my nomination I hope to be able to play a key role in molding our Beta website into a coherent, straightforward, transparent, and - most of all - inspiring platform.

If you have any questions, please ask.

My name is Alyssa, my education derives from trade school in graphic design from Pennsylvania. Currently residing in Greater Houston Texas Area. Self-taught painter, sketcher, animator. Also specialized the past five years in the tool industry, more specifically hand tools.

I have been helping Arts and Crafts for little over a year. I enjoy giving positive criticism in drawing, also find delight in helping crafter's with material identification. Being in the tool industry for half a decade, has given me the ability to help crafter's find what they need to start, and to finish projects they are working on.

Although I have experienced a time crunch-as of recent--I do find myself monitoring new posts, closed posts, editing posts, and collaborating with others in comments sections. I am very grateful to find such a helpful, caring community, to help fellow artists that are seeking questions and answers.

My name is Ken Graham and I would like to be considered as running for moderator one this site.

True that I have not the reputation of many others on the site or have the frequency levels of visitation with Arts & Crafts, but I am willing to made adjustments to my routine to accomplish that.

I am moderator on Christianity SE and I am more than willing to volunteer for the site as a team player in union with the other moderators and working with their feedback when necessary.

This election is over.
